Miley Cyrus kicked off her Gypsy Heart tour last night, April 29, to a sold-out crowd in Quito, Ecuador, and looks like it was nothing but a hit with fans and parents alike! Live tweeting from the show was someone from Ecuadorian newspaper Hoy who kept us updated throughout the whole show with twitpics and the setlist. You can see all of his twitpics (LQ) HERE.

It was also confirmed Miley’s show in San Paulo will be recorded for DVD, so we will all get to see it in a decent quality eventually.

Some highlights from the night:

• Miley said “Thanks, this is the first concert of this tour … What better place to be.”
• Miley cried during Obsessed – which she said was because she’s really happy and the song means a lot to her.
• The reporter said “Miley is a true star.” Fans are VERY pleased with her performances so far!” and that “the parents have the biggest smiles on their faces bc they see their kids having such a blast.”
• Miley said that it’s hard being on the road because she misses her family, and her little sister and dedicated her cover of Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit to Noah.
• At the end of the concert Miley told fans “Its been a great opening show, I’ve had many good memories here in Quito, some amazing moments, thank you all for such an amazing time”

Miley, her band and dancers all took to twitter after the show to tweet their gratitude to Quito and express what an amazing experience the show was for them:

Miley Cyrus Press Conference in Quito, Equador

Miley attended a press conference for her Gypsy Heart Tour today in Quito, Ecuador. (April 28) She will be kicking off her Gypsy Heart Tour tomorrow, April 29, to a sold out crowd!

There was a few live tweets from it, which I’ve translated best I can:

• Singing with David Bisbal stands out to Miley as something incredible.
• With this tour she had more opportunities to visit countries that she has not visited. Miley chose Ecuador/South America because the fans demanded it!
• Miley says “You have to surround yourself with people who love you as a person and not by what you do”
• Miley finds it difficult to sing in Spanish, she stayed at school in Spanish class and now is learning again.
• “I think is very important to care for the earth we live in and do all the care of the planet!”
• “I have made many U.S. tours and they have been perfect!”
• Hannah Montana was in the same place and with the same people. Which is not the same peace of mind for the tour!
• “I am very excited to see my fans, I am very grateful to be here!”

Miss Demi Lovato is set to walk down the aisle later this year — but as a bridesmaid in her former costar and close gal pal Tiffany Thornton’s wedding! The bride-to-be recently told People Magazine, “Demi is one of my bridesmaids! We go way back. She’s like a little sister to me. She’s one of my closest friends.” When we interviewed Demi Lovato last year, she told us all about how excited she was to be a part of Tiffany’s wedding, dress shopping with Tiff and what she planned on wearing for the big day!

BOP & Tiger Beat: I saw that you went dress shopping with Tiffany? Was that fun?
Demi: It was so much fun.

Demi: Very surreal, definitely a tear-jerker moment.

Demi Lovato’s Upcoming Role: Bridesmaid

Tiffany Thornton has been there for Demi Lovato lately. Soon, Lovato will get to repay the favor.

“Demi is one of my bridesmaids!” Thornton, 25, who got engaged this winter, tells PEOPLE of her costar on Disney Channel’s Sonny with a Chance. “We go way back. She’s like a little sister to me. She’s one of my closest friends.”

Thornton has been supporting Lovato, 18, during her treatment for eating disorders and bipolar disorder in recent months. That means texts, tweets and good old-fashioned girl time.

“We love Pinkberry!” Thornton said at Tuesday’s Voices of Meningitis luncheon in New York. “We hang out a lot, we talk about our faith. I just really enjoy spending time with her.”

The two have been pals since they started filming Sonny with a Chance in 2009. Thornton’s sisterly concern for Lovato is clear. “You could tell she was always tired,” she said. “She works more than any person I have ever known in my entire life.”

Lovato recently said she won’t return to Sonny with a Chance, so she can focus on her music career. In that, she has the full support of her Disney Channel friends.

“I’ll miss Demi,” says Thornton. “I’m really proud of her. It takes a lot of guts to admit that you aren’t perfect in front of the world.”
