Bill Clinton, Marlee Matlin, Doug Pitt and Randy Hogan will be honored at this year’s Starkey Hearing Foundation So The World May Hear Awards Gala.
Each year, the Foundation’s So the World May Hear Awards Gala recognizes those who have made a commitment to helping others and affect positive change in the world. The Starkey Hearing Foundation joins forces with celebrities and athletes alike to raise awareness and deliver the gift of hearing to those in need around the world.
The So the World May Hear gala will feature performances by Reba, Meat Loaf, LIBERA and Miley Cyrus, along with two surprise performances. Additional celebrities currently scheduled to attend include: Patricia Arquette, Hilary Swank, Whoopi Goldberg, Maria Bello, Verne Troyer, Buzz Aldrin, Kevin Sorbo, Gary Busey, Kevin Costner, Phil Hellmuth, Larry Fitzgerald, Santonio Holmes, Roy Williams and many more.
Last year’s 2010 Starkey Hearing Foundation So the World May Hear gala successfully raised $7 million, every dollar of which contributed to helping change the lives of people around the world.
The Starkey Hearing Foundation is striving to change the social consciousness of hearing and hearing loss prevention. Hearing loss affects one in 10 Americans, and 63 million children worldwide, yet many do not have access to the hearing devices that can help correct that disability. The Foundation now delivers more than 100,000 hearing aids through hearing missions in countries stretching from the U.S. to Vietnam. Since 2000, the Foundation has supplied more than 500,000 hearing aids to people in need and is striving to achieve its goal of distributing over one million free hearing aids in this decade. In addition to giving the gift of hearing, the Foundation also works diligently to promote ‘safe hearing’ through two unique programs – the recently launched Listen Carefully campaign, aimed at preventing hearing loss among teens and young people; and the Sound Matters program, which with the help of partners such as Best Buy, the Grammy Foundation and others within the music and entertainment industry, seeks to raise social awareness of healthy hearing, prevention of hearing damage, and regular hearing check-ups.
The gala takes place on July 24 at the St. Paul River Centre, 175 Kellogg Blvd West, St. Paul, Minnesota. Find out more HERE.
In other news, Miley Cyrus is Cody Simpson’s celebrity crush:

Seventeen contributing editor Demi Lovato gives you the story behind her single, and talks about why it’s so special—and personal—to her.
Hey Guys! I can’t tell you how long I have been waiting to share this news with you! If you haven’t heard, the name of my new single is…SKYSCRAPER!! You can get it on iTunes starting tomorrow, July 12.
This song is so special to me because it’s inspired by my journey and the struggles that I’ve dealt with this past year. I hope people are able to relate to it and realize that they are able to rise above and overcome any obstacle, no matter the circumstances, and shine like a skyscraper. I am still on a personal journey dealing with my own issues each and every day, but the best advice I can give to anyone going through a rough patch is to never be afraid to ask for help.
Recording this song was such an amazing experience for me. It was such an incredible and emotional process, and I couldn’t have asked for a better producer to work with than Toby Gad. Toby is one of the sweetest people I know and I am so proud of the work we did together.
My biggest wish for this song is that it’s able to inspire others and urge them to keep moving forward no matter what the odds.
I hope you all love the song as much as I do!
Stay Strong!
Love,
