Miley Cyrus’ ‘We Can’t Stop’ Single Due June 3

Next month, Miley Cyrus will make her long-awaited return to music: “We Can’t Stop,” the 20-year-old singer’s next single, will be unveiled on June 3, she confirmed during the 2013 Billboard Music Awards pre-show blue carpet presented by Cambio on Sunday night (May 19). Cyrus will premiere the song, produced by Mike WiLL Made-It, on Ryan Seacrest’s syndicated radio show next month.

“I’m so excited!” Cyrus gushed to Michelle Marie about “We Can’t Stop” on the Cambio blue carpet. The single will precede Cyrus’ still-untitled fourth studio album, which follows 2010′s “Can’t Be Tamed.”

“I feel like I can really be myself,” Cyrus said of her forthcoming album. “I really have more of a connection of who I am, and I feel like I can maybe express that more in my music now.”

Of “We Can’t Stop,” Cyrus added, “Me and Mike-WiLL [Made-It] teamed up, and it really just turned out to be perfect and exactly what I wanted, and exactly what I wanted my first sound to be, and my first look to be. I think it’s an important message for me to tell my fans — they haven’t stopped waiting, so it’s great.”

Cyrus is presenting an award at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, airing live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on ABC. “30 Rock” alum Tracy Morgan is serving as host, with Don Mischer producing.

“It’s been such a while since I’ve been able to tell people what I’ve been up to — it’s been a minute, so I’m just happy to be able to tell my fans what I’ve been doing,” Cyrus said of her new material.

Demi Lovato NIGHTLINE Interview – 10 Things You Didn’t Know:

Demi Lovato is a force to be reckoned with.

Just 20 years old, the singer-songwriter, who mixes pop beats with a hard edge, dropped her fourth album, “Demi,” this week, on which she co-wrote almost all the songs. “Heart Attack,” the new single off her latest album, is already on its way to being this summer’s anthem.

Having been in the entertainment business since childhood, Lovato has been through the wringer, battling through several personal struggles, but now says she is stronger than ever.

In a candid interview with “Nightline,” the singer shared both quirky and serious reflections about herself and her personal life, some of which might surprise you.

1. Lovato Loves Kelly Clarkson

A proud Southern girl, Lovato grew up in Dallas — her mother was even an NFL cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys — and said she was always drawn to powerful female vocalists, especially fellow Texan, Kelly Clarkson, 31.

“I grew up singing every single song that she sang,” Lovato said. “There were times where my mom would hear me, I would be upstairs in my bedroom, on repeat, or I finally got a karaoke sound system, so I would be blaring it in the living room.”

2. Lovato Says Ex-Beau Joe Jonas Is Like Family

Who says you can’t be friends with your ex?

For a few months in 2010, Lovato famously dated Joe Jonas of the famed Jones Brothers. While their relationship and eventual break-up made them a constant paparazzi target, Lovato said the two are now friends — Jonas even tweeted congrats to Lovato for “Demi” this week — but it wasn’t always so easy.

“When you go through heartbreaks and things like that, you always have in mind somebody,” she said. “It’s like when you hear a song on the radio that reminds you of somebody, you’re going to be reminded. But keeping that in mind … it’s a delicate balance.

“We were in a relationship and we broke up, and at one point, I was really mad at him,” Lovato continued. “Now, I can, fortunately, say, that him, and his brother Nick, have always been there for me, and are literally family, and like brothers … we have a great friendship. And we may not be as close as we used to be, but that’s OK.”

3. Lovato Was a Child Actor

At age 7, Lovato was booked on the PBS series “Barney and Friends.” She has been in show business ever since, and said being in the spotlight had a dramatic effect on her self-esteem.

“I had a few years where I was just doing commercials,” she said. “But it wasn’t until I was about 14, when I was on gossip sites, and, when those first blogs started writing, and people were leaving really mean comments, that it started affecting me.”

4. Lovato Said She Was Bullied

Going from school to being on a TV show and back again was a “really hard transition,” Lovato said, and she struggled with classmates who picked on her.

“There was a lot of bullies,” she said. “Mainly, it’s the most popular girl in the school, spreading rumors, and gossip, and everything like that.”

5. Lovato Sought Professional Help for Mental Illness

Struggling with depression, bipolar disorder and an eating disorder through her pre-teen and teenage years is something that Lovato has been outspoken about. At age 11, she said, she started cutting herself.

“I had been battling with depression for years, and an eating disorder for years, and I had been self-harming, and other things, self-medicating, and I just wasn’t happy anymore, and I needed to, I needed to change my life,” Lovato said. “There were times beforehand where I had had meltdowns, or things like that, and my mom begged me to go into treatment, but I told her I would get better.”

Finally, she realized she needed to get help.

“When I finally didn’t get better, I knew that I was in trouble, and I knew that I couldn’t do it on my own,” she said. “So, whether I liked it or not, if I wanted to continue to live, and have a long career, or just be happy, then I needed to listen to what my management team and my family was saying, and go into treatment.”

Lovato went through two stints in rehab, and while she said it helped, she still battles with her disorders every day. She recently became an honorary chairwoman for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Day, hosted by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to help raise awareness.

“I can’t sit here and say that I am Miss Recovery … that I’ll be that way for the rest of my life,” she said. “You don’t know, and that’s why you have to take it a day at a time.”

6. Lovato Loves Lindsay Lohan

If there is one young person in Hollywood to whom Lovato can relate, it’s probably troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan. Lovato said she embraces Lohan with open arms.

“She is one of my friends,” Lovato said. “And I will always be there if she ever reaches out … if I can help somebody, of course, I’m going to be there, and I love Lindsay.”

7. Lovato Thinks Simon Cowell Is a ‘Genius’

When she’s not in the studio laying down the next hits to slam the pop charts, Lovato is working as a judge on competitive talent show, “The X-Factor,” sitting alongside the great Simon Cowell.

“We have a really fun relationship,” Lovato said. “He, I think, is fascinated by my spirit, and my journey, and just, I don’t know, my honesty. And, with him, I’m fascinated as well. I have so much to learn from this guy. He literally is a genius.”

And although Britney Spears left the show, now in its second season, Lovato respects the princess of pop.

“If you got the opportunity to sit next to Britney, several times a week, you would miss her, too,” she said.

8. Lovato Wants to Break ‘Mold of Perfection’ for Young Girls

After struggling with her own body-image pressures for years, Lovato said she hopes young girls can hear her story and realize that they don’t have to be anyone but themselves.

“My goal in my life is to break that mold of perfection that all young women have,” she said. “I was able to get help, because I wanted to be that person to break the mold for other people, and, with that, not only has it, has it taught me to really accept myself, but also, I’ve had tons of young girls say that I have saved their lives, and that’s something that I can’t really fathom, at all.”

9. Lovato Doesn’t Do It Alone

Lovato said she turns to many people for support.

“I have tons of rocks,” she said, referring to people on whom she leans on for support. “If you lean on only one person, then you become co-dependent on that person, which is something that I’ve learned. So, in order to avoid co-dependency issues, along with all the other issues that I have, you have to have a support system.”

10. Her New Tattoo Has Deep Meaning for Her

Aside from a new album, Lovato this week debuted something else personal to her: A tattoo on her shoulder that says, “now I’m a warrior” in black script. It’s her 12th tattoo and also a lyric from her song “Warrior,” but one that she said is “deeply personal” to her.

“I mention this song because it is a very powerful song,” Lovato said. “It is the song that I want my fans to hear, and apply it to any situation that they can relate to.

“I think if you were to listen to one song that would sum up my message on this album, that’s the one that it would be.”

Demi Lovato on ‘Demi’: ‘This Album Represents Me the Best’

15 05 2013

The wait is officially over Lovatics!

Demi Lovato‘s latest album Demi dropped today and the 20-year-old songstress phoned in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to talk her excitement and revealed which songs are the most personal to her.

The “Heart Attack” singer decided to name her fourth studio album Demi because she’s “never had a self titled album … I feel like this album represents me the best that any album has ever represented me.”

The newly-blond singer continued: “I’m starting a new chapter and a new world in my career coming out in radio songs and more of the mainstream world and some people are hearing me for the first time and I want them to see this is who I am and this is my music and this is what I’m all about.”

And Demi didn’t hold back on letting people know who she is and what she’s about with tracks like “Warrior.” In fact, she revealed: “In this song, I wrote it about something that I had never really talked about before and I’m pretty open with my story but the lyrics kind of say it all it in that song.”

“It was really emotional and hard for me to write that song because I was so vulnerable and was so raw with the lyrics. And just when you’re in the recording booth and you’re singing a very vulnerable song, there were tears. It was intense, and it’s heavy. When I play it for people I almost feel like I’m naked in a way, like I don’t want to be in the room when people listen to it.”

And this isn’t the first track Demi says makes her feel uneasy. “I released another song awhile ago called ‘For the Love of A Daughter’ and that one is a pretty heavy song, as well, and I’ve never performed that live, so I don’t know if I’ll even perform this one live, but it depends on how comfortable I feel when I go on tour.”

Where Demi did feel comfortable was on stage at Wango Tango last weekend. “It felt amazing, even just being a part of Wango Tango felt awesome,” she says. “Obviously, I’ve never played and I was super excited. I love performing in front of huge crowds like that. It’s such a great feeling.”

Another great feeling? The Demi and Taylor Swift mashup that made it’s way onto the Internet last month. So has Demi heard the tune?

“Yeah isn’t that awesome? I heard that and I was like, ‘isn’t that awesome?!’”

Demi Lovato on Britney & L.A. Leaving ‘X Factor.’

With Britney Spears and L.A. Reid not returning to join her on the judging panel for Season 3 of The X Factor, Demi Lovato shared her experience working with the two of them this past year.

“Of course I was bummed because I loved working with Britney and L.A. is so much fun to sit next to,” Lovato told ETonline’s Jarett Wieselman at Tuesday’s FOX Upfronts.

Both departed judges cited their music careers as the grounds for their exit, Spears mentioning her upcoming album and Reid referring to his record company. Although disappointed to watch the two go, Lovato revealed that she was eager to find out who will be hired to replace them.

“It’s going to be really interesting to see who ends up being next to [Simon and I at the judges' table], but for right now it’s kind of cool that that it’s just me and him here today.”

Although the show, which is based on the U.K.’s X Factor created by Simon Cowell, is only in its infancy in the U.S., Lovato is the only celebrity judge to make it to a second season, as Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were replaced after Season 1.

Now with the experience of her first season under her belt, the 20-year-old pop star articulated on the strategic changes that she plans to make for Season 3.

“I tried to control so much of it [last season]. I wanted my contestants to wear this and do this. … I needed to relax and just let them be themselves and just have fun,” Lovato assessed.

“This year, instead of looking for that overall pop-star package, I’m going to try a different approach and just see if I can find somebody that would do great in the industry but also just have the most incredible voice. That’s what I’m really looking for.”

As for her own music career, Lovato was able to record her fourth studio album while being a judge on X Factor. She revealed what most excited her about the self-titled album, Demi.

“I’m so excited for people to hear the heavy, emotional songs that showcase my artistry [and] my vocal abilities,” the “Heart Attack” singer said. “Also, I’m just excited for people to hear the really catchy pop songs that are going to get stuck in your head and drive you crazy. I love torturing you with that.”

Lovato will appear on The X Factor‘s third season when it premieres in September and her new album, Demi, will be released tomorrow.
