Miley Cyrus ‘Clinging to Hope’ of Reconciliation w/ Liam Hemsworth

15 03 2013

Are they on? Are they off? What does their future hold?

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth aren’t saying much publicly about the state of their relationship, although rumors of a split have been circulating for weeks – fueled in particular by a photo of Cyrus, 20, without her engagement ring.

Now a source tells PEOPLE that based on her demeanor lately the pair appear to have “split for now.”

In recent days Cyrus, who’s been lying low, “seems exhausted,” adds the source. But she’s not given up on the idea of a reconciliation.

“She has no plans to see Liam but seems to be clinging to hope that they will get back together,” says the source. “Miley hasn’t canceled the wedding.”

Hemsworth, 23, meanwhile, has been spotted with friends this week in his native Australia.

However bleak things might seem, the couple do, of course, have options.

Good news, y’all.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth split rumors have all but taken over the Internet, but E! News has learned that the couple has not broken up. That doesn’t mean everything’s picture-perfect in this relationship, though.

“[Miley and Liam] have been a bit rocky, but are not giving up,” says a source. “They both want it to work.”

Liam, currently vacationing in Australia with family while Miley remains in L.A., is expected to return to the States within the next several days.

Reps for Liam and Miley have yet to comment. Then again, the singer-actress did tweet just last week that she’s “not discussing anything but my music from now on.”

Hey, do whatever makes you happy, Miley girl.
