Miley Cyrus Set For First UK Number 1 As ‘We Can’t Stop’ Storms iTunes

4 08 2013

Track on course to score her first British Number 1?

Miley Cyrus looks to be on course to score her first Number One single in the UK, as her new tune ‘We Can’t Stop’ strides to the top of the iTunes listings after just a few hours on sale.

The track had been gathering strong momentum as a pre-order over recent weeks, and was made officially available to download in Britain at midnight last night.

The song quickly ascended to the top of the online store’s live rankings, giving a good hint that it willl be the UK’s official chart-topper next weekend.

The star has not even appeared in the top 10 over here before, but peaked at No11 three times – with ‘See You Again’ in 2008, and ‘The Climb’ and ‘Party In The USA’ in 2009. She hit No13 with ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ in 2010 – her last appearance in the chart.

Her three albums all made the Top 10, however – with Meet Miley Cyrus and Can’t Be Tamed both hitting No8, and Breakout making it to No10.

‘We Can’t Stop’ has already made it to the Top 5 in the US, but it looks set to dethrone Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up’ and go all the way over here.

The performance of the track also betters that of her nearest Disney companions – Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato – whose new singles ‘Come And Get It’ and ‘Heart Attack’ peaked at Nos 6 and 3 respectively.

Miley’s new album is out later this year.

Miley Cyrus Heads To Top Of UK iTunes Chart

Miley Cyrus has stormed the UK iTunes Chart with her latest single We Can’t Stop entering at No.1 in just 24 hours of its release.

It will mark the 20-year-old’s highest UK chart position to date with previous singles The Climb, Party In The U.S.A and See You Again all peaking just outside the Top 10 at No.11.

Miley, who’s video for We Can’t Stop is nominated for an MTV VMA award, recently released a Director’s Cut of the video after surpassing 100 million views on VEVO.

Elsewhere in the iTunes chart, current chart-topper Avicii slips to No.2 with Wake Me Up and Tinie Tempah making a strong comeback with his new single Trampoline Ft. 2 Chainz, this week’s second-highest new entry currently placing at No.3.

Can anyone stop Miley from achieving chart glory? Find out on Wednesday in the Official Chart Update at 4pm.

Miley Cyrus To Rap On ‘We Can’t Stop’ Producer Mike WiLL Made It Single

30 07 2013

Miley Cyrus will rap on a new track.

The singer has lent her vocals to producer Mike WiLL Made It’s upcoming debut single, after he produced her latest single ‘We Can’t Stop’.

“I’m about to put out the first single within the next month,” Mike WiLL Made It told Life + Times. “It’s called ’23’ and it features Miley, Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa.

“It’s a record where I had to try out something different. Miley is kind of rapping to it.”

Meanwhile, Cyrus recently acknowledged that she does refer to the class A drug MDMA in her latest single, after some fans were confused whether she was referring to her name Miley, or the slang term ‘Molly’.

The star has also teased a “crazier version” of her ‘We Can’t Stop’ music video, which already sees her kissing a sex doll and trashing a house.

Miley Cyrus Never Googles Herself: ‘If I Knew What People Say, I’d Probably Hate Myself’

Miley Cyrus pays no heed to her haters.

In a new interview with BBC, the former Disney darling discussed transforming from the sweet-faced Hannah Montana child star to the artist she is today, while ignoring the naysayers all along the way.

“People that probably fall off are the people obsessed with googling themselves and knowing what people are saying,” she said. “If I knew what people are saying about me, I’d probably hate myself. I don’t look at that kind of stuff.”

Cyrus, 20, believes she has a solid fan base backing her as she prepares to drop her forthcoming fourth studio album this fall. Her catchy comeback single, “We Can’t Stop,” hit No. 2 on Billboard Hot 100, and it’s subversive music video has broke Vevo records as the fastest clip to reach 100 million views.

“I knew it was gonna be great,” she said of the video. “And I knew it was gonna go viral like that because it’s just interesting.”

Despite the success of the single, Cyrus is in no rush to push out her much-anticipated new music, which is in part thanks to her name-making — money-making — career on the Disney Channel.

“I worked for five years on something that was a character where I didn’t really get to be completely the creative person that I wanted to be so at this point I did the work that I had to do,” Cyrus said. “I had to kinda make my money and do all that so now I don’t have to worry about necessarily any of that. I can just make music because I love it.”

“It doesn’t have to really be driven by, ‘I wanna build up my fan base,’ because I have an amazing fan base that’s followed me,” she continued. “Now because I don’t have any more responsibilities or have anyone that I have to really answer to, I can take as long as I want and just be patient on this record.”

Miley Cyrus – We Can’t Stop (Director’s Cut)

Miley Cyrus Ecstatic @ New Vevo Record

28 07 2013

Miley Cyrus shared her excitement this weekend after smashing a VEVO record, which comes just days after another record previously held by the star was overtaken by One Direction’s latest single ‘Best Song Ever’.

The former Hannah Montana star, racked up 100 million views for her controversial video ‘We Can’t Stop’ which was later confirmed as the fastest time a video has ever reached that amount of views.

The star took to Twitter to boast about her impressive achievement and thank her loyal army of followers.

The 20-year-old wrote: “We got 100 million views?!?!?! Oh my god! We did it! We broke the vevo record! 100 million views in 37 days maaaafakkkkas!!!! Directors cut coming soon! (sic).

Miley has been campaigning in a desperate bid to reach the milestone all week, even promising fans that she would treat them to a new version of the video, if they helped her break the VEVO record.

The mischievous singer raised eyebrows in her sexually suggestive video where she is seen writhing around on a bed bed and ‘Twerking’.

Miley’s achievement comes just days after she lost her crown to British pop band, One Direction, who broke her previous record for the most views in 24 hours.

The music video site had announced last week that Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan – who also appear in drag in the video – had racked up 12.5 million views just a day after its upload.

An official tweet from VEVO read: “The New 24hr Record = 12.3 MILLION. Just….WOW. #Directioners ain’t playin. #BSEVEVORECORD.” The boyband may find it harder to top the UK charts though and it’s been confirmed that as of last Wednesday, they had failed to knock Avicii off the top spot by the time the mid week figures were collated.

Miley Cyrus Sings ‘On My Own’?

A raw recording appears to have leaked via YouTube user ‘LeakableMusics’ of pop star Miley Cyrus singing a stripped down version of the LES MISERABLES tune ‘On My Own’. Is Eponine in her future? There’s no official word on when, where, or why the song was recorded but the track is now making the viral rounds and filled up our inbox this morning as well.

Miley Ray Cyrus, the daughter of country singer and CHICAGO vet Billy Ray Cyrus, rose to prominence as a teen idol after being cast in the Disney Channel television series Hannah Montana, in which she portrayed the starring character Miley Stewart. Now aged 20, she has attained a total of six Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, and had five RIAA certified albums by the age of 18.

Her most recent single “We Can’t Stop” was released on June 9, and topped iTunes Store singles charts in thirty countries within ten hours of its release. The song has peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100. In doing so, it ties with “Party in the U.S.A.” as Cyrus’ highest-charting single in the country, and additionally became her 39th entry on the chart, including tracks releases as Hannah Montana. Its accompanying music video was released on June 29. On July 26, it surpassed 100 million views, consequentially becoming the fastest video to attain Vevo certification.
