Miley Cyrus Recruits Big Sean, Ludacris For Bangerz, But Who’s Her Favorite?

10 08 2013

‘Big Sean and Ludacris and, of course, Pharrell has done a bunch of my records, so I’m really excited about that,’ Cyrus tells MTV News.

For the past year, we have watched Miley Cyrus go from Disney darling to a twerk-loving pop diva.

She shocked many with her questionable lyrics (is it “Molly” or “Miley”?) and video for “We Can’t Stop,” but Cyrus is just getting started, and on her fourth album, she’s doing things her way.

“You know, there’s definitely been times where I’ve had to fight for what I want on this record,” Cyrus told MTV News on the set of her VMA promoshoot. “But I think everyone now is starting to see that I had a vision, and I’m really excited about it. It’s just gonna be — it’s gonna be crazy. It’s gonna be single after single after single.”

Which is why Cyrus, who is nominated for three MTV Video Music Awards, appropriately titled the album BANGERZ. “If you don’t know why my record is called BANGERZ you’ll know as soon as you hear it. Nothin but #BANGERZ,” Cyrus tweeted shortly after revealing the album title when she reached 13 million followers on Twitter.

And with the roster of A-list artists — including Wiz Khalifa — she has lined up for the album, it may be hard to disagree.

“I have a lot of features on my record,” Cyrus said. “But some of my favorite … I get to work with Future, who’s like my favorite kind of new artist right now, even though he’s not that new now. All his music is everywhere. But he’s just someone that I really, I love working with. I love writing with him. Him and I wrote a bunch of songs on this record together, and he’s featured on one of them. Big Sean and Ludacris and, of course, Pharrell has done a bunch of my records, so I’m really excited about that.”

Cyrus doesn’t seem to be finished adding collaborators yet. On Wednesday, Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” producer Mike Will Made It posted a photo on Instagram alongside the former “Hannah Montana” star and Nicki Minaj with the caption “Beauty and the Beast.”

Now, even though Cyrus is teaming up with a long list of hip-hop collaborators, Pharrell, who produced the upcoming effort, says we shouldn’t expect it to be a hip-hop album.

“It’s just gonna sound like her and her influences, but it’s not that hip-hop heavy,” Pharrell told MTV News. “That’s not what she does, that’s not where she comes from. It’s a part of what she loves, which is a very big difference.”

Miley Cyrus Admits Being With Juicy J Creates A ‘Crazy Kind Of Vibe’

The twerking queen tells MTV News what it was like guesting on Mike Will Made It’s ’23.’

Mike Will Made It has produced massive hits for A-list artists, including Rihanna and 2 Chainz, but now, some of his famous friends are returning the favor on his debut single, “23.”

Mike recruited Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J and his “We Can’t Stop” collaboratorMiley Cyrus for the track, which was previewed in a 25-second snippetthat featured Wiz rapping over a mid-tempo beat and Cyrus singing, “I’m naughty by nature / Like I’m hip-hop hooray.”

MTV News recently caught up with Cyrus, who released the title of her upcoming album, Bangerz, earlier this week, on the set of her VMA promo shoot, where she talked about why she was so eager to get on the track.

“He had had this track ’23’ with Wiz and Juicy already, and it’s just on some cool like old-school J sh– and that’s what’s really cool about it,” she said. “And like people wouldn’t expect me to be on a song about Jordan… right now all they really see of me and Juicy is me at his concert way too twerked up, they haven’t seen what we can do when were together and when were together it’s this crazy kind of vibe because it’s not what people would really expect.”

Mike told MTV News he was a bit skeptical at first to put Cyrus on the track, but after laying down a verse, which showed off Cyrus’ rapping skills, he admits, she “killed it.”

“I’m definitely not a rapper. It’s my rapping. It’s my own swag. I hate that word,” Cyrus said. “But it’s just the only way I can really describe it, it’s just kind of my own thing where it’s not really rapping, it’s just kind of on my own thing it’s just kind of on my own sh–.”

Cyrus and Mike have already been thinking up treatments for the upcoming video for “23,” but admits she’s feeling the pressure to top herVMA-nominated video for “We Can’t Stop.”

“We’ve been working on the treatment every day,” Cyrus said. “And trying to make sure this video is crazy because I have a big follow-up with “We Can’t Stop,” so this video has to be crazy.”

Miley Cyrus Declares Herself ‘Naughty By Nature’ In Mike Will’s ‘23’ Teaser

8 08 2013

Mike WiLL Made It – 23(Snippet) – feat. Wiz Khalifa, Miley Cyrus & Juicy J. from Mike WiLL Made It on Vimeo.

What happens when Miley Cyrus gets recruited to sing the hook on Mike Will Made It’s new single “23”? Well, fans will have to wait a few more weeks to hear the whole song, but the producer did drop a short, but sweet teaser for the track, which also features Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa, late Tuesday night.

The 27-second clip proves that this team is out to party. With its club-ready beat Wiz spits “I’m not no wannabe/ Waitress asks how many bottles/ I say 23.” Then Miley comes in with her verse.

In her signature raspy tone, she sings, “I’m naughty by nature.” (Oh, we see what you did there.) Then she adds, “My hands in the sky/ I wave ‘em from side to side/ my feet on the floor/ I’m about to turn up now.”

The full version of “23” will make its debut on August 26; one day after the VMA-nominatedMiley is set to appear at the VMAs on August 25, live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.  The track doesn’t mark the first collaboration for Miley and Mike Will. He also produced the singer’s lead Bangerz track, “We Can’t Stop.”

At the VMAs she’s up for three Moonmen for “We Can’t Stop.” Mike Will makes a cameo in the Diane Martel-directed clip.
